What happened to rebelling against ungodliness and awakening the soldier of christ. We are too sleepy and comfortable to reach out to younger men and women. Maybe the church as we know it needs to die so it can be reborn as a rebel again.waltburkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16888253841736246168noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10217302.post-1125412190757214872005-08-30T09:29:00.000-05:002005-08-30T09:29:00.000-05:00Andy -- I'm going to one of these meetings on Thur...Andy -- I'm going to one of these meetings on Thursday and have been feeling a bit of apprehension about the purpose of the meeting. I got the feeling from the reading list that was mailed out that the decision for change had already been made, just not what type of change. I (perhaps foolishly) opted to make my own reading list using a list from Emergent. I'm hoping that if we're leaping into change we're at least thoughtful and prayerful about the change we're making.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10217302.post-1125395461644585842005-08-30T04:51:00.000-05:002005-08-30T04:51:00.000-05:00Well said. However, change can be a good and healthy thing. You didn't mention any of the specific things that were being targeted for change but it sounds like you didn't like the proposals. I agree that the world is changing. I also agree that the church needs to be aware of the changes and "adjust" how it gets the message across. If the discussion was about changing the message, well then we really do have a problem. As you told the bishop, I support you. Let me know if and how I can help. I agree that it's not about saving the church. And normally, if i did not know who you were, i would throw up in my mouth a little on the idea of "soul saving" but i know how youmean it and it has integrity. You also said that someone thought you were talking about how the world is changing and the church needs to change in response to that (although that is not what you were saying at all). You are asserting that the church itself is changing. I agree with that but i also think the world is changing and the church needs to change in response to that. Why don't you agree with that statement? curiously waiting, amyAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
