I wonder what they would think of the greed so blatantly on display these days." I really don't believe in my heart this meant they would take from their own families and give all that they had worked for so that everyone was equal. I do believe that they would help those in need and help protect each others land freedom and security. I use the example of barn raising, Plowing fields for a sick farmer, Helping those whos crops might have failed. But in no way giving up land, money just so someone else could live as they live. Today we live in a Country that hard work is frowned upon and if you do succeed then others want you to spread the wealth. There are places where everyone is equal, China, North Korea, Cuba, and I'm sure more that I can't think of now. The American dream was once to work hard and obtain what you desire. Now it's to wait for someone to give it to you. Soon we will be a bankrupt nation if we keep on this path. God help the USA and open the eyes and minds of the blind. This is not a Robin Hood Nation, or maybe it is now, I guess we will wait to see what our President and his merry men will do next.... And for the support of this declarat...YES..........
And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence, we mutually pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor."

is also the last quote on one panel at the Jefferson Memorial.

.....and today's politicians don't risk the same as the founding fathers....

without risking all they have today, I believe, we have introduced politicians into the system which will more readily abuse their positions, more readily do selfish things vs the right things for "the people."

The penalty for the founding fathers was severe if they failed, today's politicians don't risk enough for the power which they yield. Perhaps having them face the appropriate risk would eliminate inappropriate people from becoming politicians.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
